Our Governors

Governing Body:

Clifton Hampden Church of England Primary School  has a single governing body consisting of twelve governors representing parents, teachers, local government, the Church and the local community. They all work in a voluntary capacity and their time and expertise is greatly appreciated. The powers and duties of governors are prescribed by law and they endeavor to ensure that schools conduct their affairs in accordance with all relevant legal obligations.

Aims of the Governing Body:

The main aim of the Governing Body is to hold the schools leadership team to account to ensure that all strategic decisions are made in the best interests of the children. Governors are responsible for: ensuring that the National Curriculum is delivered; monitoring the school’s performance and progress; ensuring the effective use of school funds; and setting the direction for future development. Governors play an active part in self-evaluating the schools performance and developing and monitoring school improvement initiatives to ensure they are impactful and making a difference to children.  Governors are responsible for recruiting the Head Teacher and are often involved in staffing decisions, such as the selection of new staff.

The governors also monitor:

  • the condition of school premises;
  • health & safety procedures;
  • safeguarding.

Governors view their role as one of partnership with parents and teachers for the ultimate benefit of all the children who attend Clifton Hampden Primary School.

REGISTER OF PECUNIARY INTERESTS:

Each year governors are required to sign a register of pecuniary interests. This declares whether they have any financial or business interests that could conflict with their duties as a school governor.

No financial or business interests have been declared by the governors and none of the governors are related to members of staff.
